Take a moment and read the following story to gather an understanding of our wonderful work and join the CHS celebration:
The "Fleming family" came to Community Housing Services over 12 years ago because they were on the verge of becoming homeless. Our Housing Specialist made inquiries regarding the feasibility of permitting this family to move into the agency’s housing unit. Many people thought that this family would not succeed due to several challenges; unemployment, the lack of a formal education, and marketable skills. After residing in our unit for a period of years, the family had a chance to participate in our homeownership program and became homeowners. The family eventually relocated, and have become successful business owners. They now give back to the community by employing individuals that are out of work and find themselves struggling with various issues. These individuals are then able to have an opportunity to have pride in themselves, to pay taxes and reinvest in their community.
It is through the example of the "Flemings" which shows us that through the workings of charity, seeds of opportunity are planted and the fruits of prosperity are matured. So, please join us in embracing another 25 years of celebrating community.
